Minerva Academy has marked a historic milestone under its strategic expansion vision through a landmark collaboration with Amrita Group of Institutions, aimed at establishing Minerva’s second residential football academy in India.
This collaboration represents a significant step in Minerva Academy’s long-term plan to expand its elite football development ecosystem through partnerships with leading educational institutions. The initiative reflects a shared vision of integrating high-performance football with structured education, residential support, and long-term athlete development, creating a sustainable and scalable pathway for young talent across India.
Minerva Academy has consistently set benchmarks in Indian football, having produced over 240 international footballers, more than the combined output of all other academies in the country. With a proven record of success at both national and international levels, Minerva’s expansion strategy focuses on replicating its high-performance development model across key regions, with Bengaluru emerging as a strategic hub for this next phase of growth.
A Residential Academy for Boys & Girls
The proposed academy will operate as a full-fledged residential football academy for both boys and girls, offering equal access to elite coaching, education, sports science, nutrition, and psychological support. A structured women’s football programme will form a core pillar of the project, reinforcing Minerva Academy’s commitment to gender equity and long-term development of women’s football in India.
Elite Competitive Pathways & Youth League Participation
The academy will provide a clear competitive pathway through regular participation in AIFF-recognised youth leagues and elite competitions, ensuring players are exposed to high-intensity, structured match environments from an early age. This pathway is designed to bridge the gap between grassroots development and elite senior football.
Coach Education & Ecosystem Empowerment
Beyond player development, the collaboration places strong emphasis on coach education and capacity building. Minerva Academy will implement structured coach education programmes, mentorship initiatives, and continuous professional development modules aimed at empowering local coaches, enhancing technical standards, and creating long-term sustainability within the football ecosystem.
Reviving the South Indian Football Ecosystem
A key objective of this initiative is to revive and strengthen the South Indian football ecosystem, particularly in Karnataka and neighbouring regions. By creating a centre of excellence in Bengaluru, the project aims to provide local talent with world-class training environments, national exposure, and clear progression pathways—while keeping players rooted within their regional football culture.
Governance, Accreditation & Long-Term Vision
The academy will work towards securing AIFF Academy Accreditation, aligning fully with national standards and best practices in youth development. In parallel, the long-term sporting vision includes building a competitive pathway with the objective of participation in the I-League from Bengaluru, contributing meaningfully to the city’s and region’s football landscape.
This collaboration is not a standalone initiative but part of Minerva Academy’s broader strategic expansion framework, aimed at developing a nationwide network of elite residential academies built on consistency, sustainability, and long-term impact rather than short-term outcomes.
The partnership with Amrita Group of Institutions stands as a defining moment in Minerva Academy’s journey—signalling a new chapter in Indian football education, while reinforcing a shared commitment to shaping the future of Indian football through structured development, opportunity, inclusion, and excellence.
