Minerva Academy FC U18 kicked off their 2025-26 Youth I-League season with an impressive and hard-earned 2–1 away win against Corbett FC on 22nd November. Playing on the opposition’s home turf presented an early test of character, but our boys rose to the occasion with the trademark resilience and discipline that define Minerva’s youth philosophy.
Corbett FC started strongly and managed to find the opening goal, briefly putting us on the back foot. But Minerva has never been a team to crumble under pressure. The response was immediate and composed, delivered with unexpected long-range power. In the 34th minute, Shelpa—showing excellent awareness and control—unleashed a stunning long-range strike from approximately 35 yards out that sailed past the goalkeeper. This spectacular equaliser instantly shifted the momentum back in our favour and brought the team back into the game.
With renewed confidence and the scores level, the team settled into a strong rhythm—controlling possession, dictating the tempo, and patiently waiting for the right moment to break through Corbett’s defensive lines. The decisive breakthrough arrived in the 65th minute, fueled by electric wing play. Frenky embarked on a fiery, determined run down the left flank, shaking off his marker before cutting a precise pass back into the box. Our captain, Lunkim, stepped up with a composed and decisive finish, slamming the ball home for the winner. His goal not only put Minerva ahead but also perfectly reflected the leadership, maturity, and fighting spirit he brings to the squad.
From that point onward, the boys maintained structure, composure, and tactical discipline—hallmarks of Minerva’s footballing identity. The defence, marshalled expertly, stood tall under late pressure, the midfield worked tirelessly to control transitions, and the forwards continued to threaten, ensuring we saw out the match with authority.
