Minerva Academy Creates Footballing History and World Records: Unbeaten Champions of the World’s Three Biggest Youth Tournaments in a Single Year

Minerva Academy have returned home — not just as boys who played football, but as world champions who changed history. In the summer of 2025, the Under-14 team from India did the unthinkable. They conquered four of the world’s biggest and most prestigious youth football tournaments, creating a global storm with their sheer dominance, discipline, and dazzling play.

What they’ve done isn’t just rare — it’s unprecedented. They became the first team in football history to win the world’s three biggest youth tournaments — the World Youth Cup aka Gothia Cup (Sweden), the Dana Cup (Denmark), and the Norway Cup (Norway) — all in the same year. And they did it all within the span of just three weeks. No other team, from any country, in any era, across all formats of youth football, has ever managed such a feat. Not only that, they also reached the final of the Helsinki Cup (Finland), making them the first team ever to reach the finals of all four major global youth tournaments in a single year.

The records broken along the way are staggering. They were unbeaten across 26 matches during their three title wins. In the Dana Cup and Norway Cup, they didn’t just win — they rewrote the script of how youth football is played. They recorded the biggest final victory margins in the 50-year history of both tournaments, which together have seen more than 90,000 teams and nearly 2 million participants. At the Norway Cup, they ended the tournament with the highest goal count and the highest goal average across all age categories — boys and girls, U6 to U18 — among more than 4000 teams and 60,000 players. And in one of the matches, they even scored the fastest goal ever recorded in the tournament’s history — just 3.8 seconds after kickoff.

But numbers only tell part of the story. This was a team that didn’t just rely on a few stars — it was a collective masterclass. Every player contributed. Every position delivered. And every goal was a glimpse into the future of Indian football.

Wahengbam Raj Singh stood as the tournament’s undisputed goal-scoring machine, netting an extraordinary 60 goals across the four tournaments. Punshiba Meitei was another standout, scoring 33 times with unplayable pace and poise. Denamoni netted 26, while Amarson and Azam Khan both contributed 24 goals each. Tony Huidrom, always electric on the wings, added 23. Chetan Singh bagged 22, while Tiwari, Yohenba, and Reoson Singh each struck 20. The midfield and defensive lines didn’t shy away either — Rajesh Singh, Gunando, Rhythm Raj, Chingkhei, Mahtab, and Kamal all chipped in with vital goals, while others held the structure with resilience and maturity far beyond their age.

They defeated European and international teams not just with skill, but with a style of play that combined tactical intelligence, fearless pressing, clinical finishing, and unrivalled chemistry. The speed of transition, the work rate, the discipline — it felt more like watching a professional European academy side than a grassroots team from India.

Their success wasn’t built in a month. It was built over years of relentless training, scouting, mentoring, and belief. Minerva Academy didn’t arrive in Europe as tourists. They came as torchbearers of a dream — to prove that Indian footballers can match, compete, and even outplay the best in the world.

And now, they return to India not just with three titles, but with something far more powerful — inspiration. They’ve set a global benchmark and given India its place in football’s youth map. They’ve broken the stereotype. They’ve redefined expectations. And they’ve planted the flag of Indian football in the most elite of European arenas.

These aren’t just champions. They are pioneers.

Minerva Academy’s 2025 batch have not only written their names into the record books — they’ve opened a new chapter in Indian football’s future. And as they walk back into their homes, greeted by cheers, flags, and cameras, they carry with them something generations will remember.

They’ve returned not just with trophies.
They’ve returned with legacy.
They’ve returned with hope.
And they’ve brought India to the world stage.
