CHAMPIONS AGAIN: MINERVA CONQUER THREE OF THE BIGGEST WORLD YOUTH TOURNAMENTS, BREAKING WORLD RECORDS ON THE WAY

In the land of the midnight sun, under skies that had seen legends rise and dreams forged for over half a century, an Indian flag now flutters proudly atop the summit of the footballing world. Minerva Academy’s Under-14 warriors have done what was once unimaginable — conquering Norway Cup 2025 in style, and with it, completing a historic European treble by lifting the World Youth Cup, Dana Cup, and now the Norway Cup — three of the biggest and most competitive youth football tournaments on the planet. This isn’t just a story of winning matches — it’s the rewriting of history, the rising of Indian football onto the world stage.

The Norway Cup, founded in 1972, is the world’s largest youth football tournament, a holy grail for aspiring players across the globe. More than around 2,000 teams, over 30,000 players, across 50+ countries, descend on Oslo each year to compete in over 6,000 matches on 90+ fields. This is no ordinary competition — it’s where dreams are born, shaped and judged. Erling Haaland, Ada Hegerberg, John Obi Mikel, Careca, Martin Ødegaard, and Solveig Gulbrandsen are just some of the global icons who once lit up these very fields. And now, with gold medals around their necks and a tricolor waving behind them, a group of boys from India — Minerva Academy U14 — have joined that legendary lineage.

From the very first whistle, it was clear this was no ordinary team. The group stage saw an earth-shaking goal blitz: 25-0 against Aksla IL, 15-0 against Førde IL 3, and 22-0 against Krokelvdalen IL — 62 goals without reply in three games. That set the tone, not just for dominance, but for destiny.

In the knockouts, they continued their onslaught. The Round of 32 saw Roselands BK taken apart 11-0. Then came Åmdal-Tokke FK, who could do nothing as Minerva steamrolled them 17-0 in the Round of 16. Each performance was a masterclass in pressing, passing, and finishing — not just by individuals, but by a united, hungry, perfectly drilled squad.

The quarterfinal against FK Fyllingsdalen saw no let-up — Minerva ran riot again with an 18-1 win. Names like Raj, Punshiba, Reoson, Tony, Mahtab, Denamoni, and K. Chetan all etched onto the scoresheet. They weren’t just winning — they were sharing the glory, a true testament to the team spirit Minerva has built. The semi-final was the clash everyone had waited for — the might of Palestine’s Ramthael Chareef Club versus the Indian storm. But even they couldn’t weather the hurricane that hit. Reoson was unstoppable with a hat-trick, Raj and Punshiba orchestrated the midfield like generals, and the 8-2 result was emphatic.

And then came the final. The golden game. The one moment where everything built so far came to a head. Facing SIF, a Norwegian side who had themselves marched to the final with impressive results, the Minervans brought their absolute best. In front of roaring fans, under waving flags, on one of the biggest youth football stages the world has to offer — Minerva Academy U14 delivered a 14-1 destruction. Denamoni opened the floodgates, Raj scored a hat-trick, Chingkhei stunned the defence with his energy, K. Chetan and Amarson fired in braces, and Punshiba, Azam, and Reoson sealed the rest with clinical finishing.

When the final whistle blew, it wasn’t just a victory — it was a statement. Minerva were not visitors in Europe. They were rulers. From Sweden to Denmark to Norway, three countries, three major international titles, one golden year. A feat never before achieved by any Indian team at any level, and now etched into football folklore.

With 130 goals scored, the highest in the entire Norway Cup across 33 age categories, and an average of 16.57 goals per game, Minerva U14 didn’t just win — they dominated. Among nearly 2,000 teams and over 21,000 players, they stood tallest, proudest, and most feared. They shattered every stereotype about Indian football — that Indian teams can’t win in Europe, can’t match the physicality, the tactical nous, the intensity — they crushed it all, game after game.

This was no fluke. This was years of vision, preparation, talent identification, hard work and belief. This was a revolution born at the Minerva Academy — and now it’s roaring across continents. Names like Raj, Punshiba, Denamoni, Chetan, Reoson, Tony, Azam, Amarson, Chingkhei, Rhythm and Mahtab are now etched not just in Indian football history — but in global youth football conversation.

Three golden titles, three iconic podiums, one unbeatable legacy. The Minerva Academy U14s are now officially the most successful Indian youth side in history, and perhaps the most successful in the world this year. The journey has been legendary. The mission is complete. The flag is flying high. And the world is watching.

This is the first time an Indian team has managed to achieve this feat, a treble at the International stage and Minerva’s young sensation Raj is the top scorer with 60 goals across Europe breaking all goal scoring Charts.

The significance of their journey cannot be overstated. These are not players from academies backed by billion-dollar federations. These are boys forged in Indian soil, molded by discipline, resilience, and world-class training. Their brand of football doesn’t mimic Europe — it speaks its own language. It is Indian at heart, international in execution, and fearless in belief.

And this belief is not just about trophies. It’s about identity. It’s about proving that Indian football can-not only compete, but lead on the biggest youth stages. That an Indian jersey can be the one team’s fear in a knockout draw. That Indian boys can walk into arenas filled with history and make their own.

Champions of the World Youth Cup. Champions of the Dana Cup. Champions of the Norway Cup.
This isn’t just Indian football rising.
This is Indian football roaring.
Minerva Academy — remember the name.
