Minerva Academy Storms Into Knockouts After Thrashing LB07 and Stensätra IF

Minerva Academy FC has once again set the stage ablaze at the Gothia Cup 2025 with two back-to-back, resounding victories that have sent a powerful message to the rest of the world. After beginning their campaign with a 7–1 win over Skoftebyns IF, the young warriors from India faced Swedish sides LB07 and Stensätra IF in their remaining group matches. What followed was a breathtaking display of dominance, skill, and unity — as Minerva hammered in 25 more goals without reply across the two games, finishing the group stage with a flawless record and advancing as clear group toppers.

In their second group encounter, Minerva squared off against LB07 — one of Malmö’s most respected football clubs, known for its structured youth system and disciplined approach. However, Minerva made it clear from the outset that they had no intention of taking their foot off the gas. The match kicked off with an early strike by Raj in the 9th minute, setting the tone for what would become a goal-fest. Raj wasn’t done yet — he went on to complete a stunning hat-trick with additional goals in the 22nd and 33rd minutes, before adding another late strike in the 39th to finish with four goals.

Denamoni joined the act with two quickfire goals in the 17th and 19th minutes, showing clinical poise inside the box. Azam Khan, who has been a livewire in Minerva’s attack all tournament, chipped in with a brace of his own in the 19th and 30th minutes. Not to be outdone, Yohenba fired home twice in the 21st and 27th, while Rhythm (32’) and Chetan T. (37’) also etched their names on the scoresheet. The final scoreline read a staggering 13–0 in favour of the Indian side, with the entire team putting on a dazzling exhibition of attacking football.

Up next, Minerva returned to the field to face their final group stage opponents — Stensätra IF, a determined side hailing from central Sweden, known for their gritty approach and a well-drilled defensive setup. But once again, Minerva’s sheer pace, technical flair, and hunger proved to be too much to handle. The match was barely a minute old when Chetan T. struck with precision, and from there, the floodgates opened once again.

Azam, who has emerged as one of the standout performers of the tournament, bagged a superb hat-trick with goals in the 2nd, 9th, and 38th minutes, showing not just instinct but remarkable composure. Raj followed up his previous four-goal performance with another pair (3’, 14’), while Rhythm added to his tally in the 4th. K. Chetan (11’), Punshiba (15’), Yohemba (19’), and Amarson (25’) rounded off the scoring with brilliant finishes, taking Minerva to an overwhelming 12–0 win.

With these two victories, Minerva closes out the group stage with three wins from three, scoring 32 goals while conceding just one. The sheer scale of their dominance has stunned spectators and opponents alike, as players across the pitch have contributed with goals, assists, and defensive solidity. This performance is not only a show of strength but a statement of intent — that Minerva is here not just to participate but to conquer.

The Gothia Cup, often referred to as the world’s largest and most prestigious youth football tournament, features a staggering 1943 teams from 76 countries in its 2025 edition, hosting a massive number of matches matches. In a field this massive, Minerva’s performances shine like a beacon — reminding the world that Indian football is growing stronger, bolder, and more fearless by the day.

Minerva’s consistency, depth, and mentality have been praised throughout the group stage. Their transition play, combination football, and finishing touch have been among the most talked-about aspects of the tournament. As they march into the knockout rounds with confidence and momentum, one thing is certain — no team will take them lightly.

With group assignments complete and heads held high, Minerva Academy now turns its attention to the knockout battles that lie ahead. The journey continues, the stakes rise, and the warriors from India are just getting started.
